On my 60th Birthday

Completing a long journey of 60 years of my life on 3rd May, a sense of pride prevailed upon me. A successful journey passing through pleasant and unpleasant times, but moving forward without any desire to rewind, without any remorse or the guilt feeling. Imperfect as a human being, committing mistakes, learning lessons, I continued to scale new heights taking along family, friends and society .

मैं अकेला ही चला था जानिब-ए-मंज़िल मगर

लोग साथ आते गये और कारवां बनता गया

It is not that journey has always been smooth, but I accepted and enjoyed every situation. Life never goes in one direction, it has got its own topsy-turvy turns. But I can say with conviction that I had good times, I had tough times, but I never had bad times. Good times brings pleasantries in our life, and tough times brings lessons; but if we perform our assigned duties sincerely towards our families, organisations and society, bad times never come. At this age, my advice to the younger generation that do not be disheartened if desired results of our efforts are not met. After all life is not about goals, it is about journey.

रहने दे आसमा, जमीं की तलाश कर,

बस जिंदगी बिताने के लिए, एक कमी की तलाश कर.

This world is a garden. One person cannot beautify the whole garden. Everyone has to choose a corner of it and beautify it. The whole garden will be beautiful. Recently, the world is witnessing more efforts to vitiate it by militancy and terrorism. The young, who are supposed to own higher responsibilities and give  new direction, are unfortunately  playing in the hands of sadistic minds- may be due to allurement of some money or to escape the hardships of life. To such innocent people, an advice from my own experiences of life is:-

हदें जब शहर से निकलीं, तो गांव-गांव चलीं

कुछ यादें मेरे साथ, पांव-पांव चलीं |

सफर धूप का किया, तो यह तजुर्बा हुआ

वो जिंदगी भी क्या, जो छांव-छांव चलीं ||

During my professional career, I have travelled throughout length and breadth of India and abroad as well. I met new persons, learnt about different cultures and traditions. With some I continued the intimacy, and forgotten some others; but they all have left imprints on my personality. To all I salute for making my life charming and lovely.

आँखों में महफूज रखना सितारों को,

अब दूर तलक सिर्फ रात होगी |

मुसाफिर तुम भी हो,मुसाफिर हम भी हैं,

किसी न किसी मोड़ पर फिर मुलाक़ात होगी |
